5 year Etsy-versary tomorrow

Anniversaries tend not to impress me much, but I must say I am proud that I have made it on Etsy for 5 years now. When I started I only looked about 1 month in advance, knowing how difficult it was going to be , I just did not want to get my hopes up. So here it is 5 years later- WOW! I will admit this past one was the most difficult, sales were way down. I had to really watch my costs. I am really hoping 2012 will be better.
Well, I always do some sort of SALE during my Etsy-versary and this year won't be any different but I will need to post-pone it by about a week since this up coming week is crazy crazy!!
I have to take my oldest back to college on Monday, then I have to get some medical test dones on Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday is back to North Carolina for house closing. So I think I will set the sale up to start on Friday-- details and more on that in a few days.

2011 coming to a close

So maybe with 2011 coming to a close, 2012 will bring a more settled and less stressful time. Between my husbands stem cell transplant at Vanderbilt this summer for his Multiple Myeloma and my oldest daughter leaving for her Freshman year at college, needless to say it has been a very difficult year. My youngest daughter is a senior and is making the final decision where to go to college, but she knows she wants to be close to home, which I am very grateful!

So my Etsy shop will re-open on New Years day and my other website shop will have its grand-opening Sale starting on New Years day too.

My Mom decides her gift!

My Mom calls me up the other day and say " I want a tote bag it has to be neutral color and small and have at least 3 velcro closures on it. " I said ok , but can you please help me out with the color? She says " oh it doesn't matter just nothing to wild and how much are they?" I said Mom you don't have to pay me. Then she gets all upset and says yes I do- so I said I will make you one for Mother's Day. Well, she agrees with that and off I go to fabric store. Now I leave over 3000 miles away from dear old Mom so I am clueless what to buy. So I played it safe and got this very sweet fabric and made this tote. One thing I know I can count on with my Mom is her brutal honesty. If she doen't like it she will tell me!!! Wish me luck!!!

Mother's Day Gifts

I think this week I need start looking for a Mother's Day gift. She is 75 years old and lives in sunny Southern California. I am going to start looking at Etsy shops and post my findings here on my blog. I have always had trouble finding just the right thing because she lives in a very small home and really is not into THINGS!!! But I will give it a go!

Pink girl camouflage messenger bag

After much trial and error I was able to finish this bag today. It is not a difficult bag to make but I was constantly being interupted by other things and people. Although I normally can multi task laundry, dishes, taking dog out and sewing, today was just not my day to keep my thoughts focused. But I did finish it and wanted to add it to my shop. Thanks Mom for the fabric!!!!

Wild baby wild!!!

Is this not the wildest fabric- I made a large catch all clutch for my etsy shop, because I thought as a purse or tote it would be just "to intense"!!! But one thing I have learned since I started selling is that alot of women like that "wild look" so we will see.!!!!!

Pandas are amazing!!!

My daughter took this picture while we were on vacation in March at the San Diego Zoo!! I find panda's truly amazing. I could of stayed there for hours watching these beautiful animals. My family are zoo junkies. We have been to so many zoo's. We love animals- so I am sure there will be more pic's to come on this blog!

Trying to get my pic's for etsy shop more clear and crisp!! Here is just one of them that I improved!!! I really feel like I spend way to much time working on this ----- computer then at my sewing machine. So starting next week I am goint to creat a creative schedule and really try to stick to it!!! I mean it!!!! I really am not going to be tempted to log on for just "5 minutes"!!!
